Magnets

These last couple of weeks I've been working on stocking up for summer shows. I made these great little patterned glass magnets using images from old magazines. Every time I see an interesting pattern or design I rip it out and save it to make these little beauties. I must have over 400 magnets now and want to keep every single one. Sadly I can not or I would have nothing to sell ever. These are not available on-line sorry. I guess you cant mail magnets in Canada something to do with messing up there equipment I think. But I will be selling them at out local shows across Ontario for $1 each or 6 for $5.

Introduction

Blank pages can be daunting soo I thought the best way to start of my new blog would be to include a little introduction. My name is Coleen Thibert and though I am still pretty young (22) I am a designer, artist, business owner, and recent graduate of Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Here I studied for 3 years, obtaining an Advanced Diploma in Crafts and Design, majoring in Textiles.

Most of the work I create is focused on collage experimenting with line, texture, and form. I first start by cutting and pasting images with my own hand-dyed and hand-made papers. Then translate these ideas on to fabric using silk screening, stitching, and dying techniques.

Most of my work evolves from happy accidents. Incorporating found, new, and used items I am able to express my passion for art and all things vintage. I enjoy being brought back to a time when things were simpler. Most of my designs feature some element of the past, wheather it be an old scrap of vintage fabric, lace doilies, or tribute to women's work.
